Our Services
Music Production
In short, we help artists and bands realize their projects from the idea stage to a finished production. This can be as simple as recording vocals and acoustic guitar, programming a backing track and help out with the song’s arrangement. Or it can be as comprehensive as taking on the role as producer, bringing in musicians and handling recording, mixing, and mastering.
We are, of course, passionate about technology and audio quality, which is reflected in the equipment we use. However, we prioritize a good performance above all else. Good sound cannot save a poor performance — though today, that’s a truth with some modifications. There’s things we can do in post-production and the mix, and we have the tools necessary if needed. What truly matters is creating something that evokes an emotion in the listener. If we hear something that moves us, that’s what counts.
Immersive Mixing
We have been mixing film music in surround for many years. When Dolby announced its initiative for Dolby Atmos for Music, it was natural for us to invest both time and resources into it. As a result, we quickly upgraded the studio’s listening system to a Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 setup, consisting of ATC and Adam speakers and subwoofers, calibrated according to Dolby's recommendations and standards.
This setup provides us with the technical and creative capabilities to deliver mixes in both Stereo and Dolby Atmos simultaneously. Our philosophy when it comes to mixing in immersive formats like Dolby Atmos is "freedom with responsibility." A good immersive mix should use the format's possibilities to support the song’s message, rather than using the technology simply for the sake of it.
Recording
The production and mixing room at Vinterland Studio has a small recording booth, typically used for vocals, acoustic guitar and similar acoustic instruments. We also have a dedicated room for guitar amplifiers and re-amping, but we don’t consider ourselves a full-fledged recording studio. For larger recording sessions, we bring our microphones and other equipment to ReelBeats Studio. Stein Tore is the house engineer there and is very familiar with the equipment, facilities and workflow, allowing us to work quickly and efficiently.
We also conduct dedicated recording sessions at ReelBeats Studio upon request. The main room at ReelBeats are phenomenal for acoustic productions such as grand piano, classical string sections, jazz and folk music. It’s equally well-suited for larger band productions and "live in studio" sessions. The studio features a main recording room and two ISO rooms, offering excellent options for isolation of instruments if needed. ReelBeats Studio also has a very nice Steinway grand piano.
